Quarter 2, 2025

April - June

2015-2017

Engaging with Regional Broadband Initiatives

In April, CBA attended Surfnet’s ribbon cutting event, celebrating the launch of new broadband infrastructure in the region. This event provided an excellent opportunity to connect with local stakeholders, learn more about innovative deployment strategies, and discuss ways to ensure resilient, high-speed internet access for communities throughout California.

Participating in Statewide Broadband Discussions

CBA representatives also joined the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership’s Broadband Summit in June. The summit brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and community organizations to discuss broadband expansion, digital inclusion, and policy strategies to support equitable internet access. Attending these discussions reinforced our commitment to advocating for collaborative, community-driven broadband solutions.

Continuing Our Mission to Advance Digital Equity

Throughout Q2, we continued to engage with partners to identify opportunities for expanding broadband access and supporting sustainable deployment. This quarter, we also submitted Round 2 applications to the Federal Funding Account program in collaboration with new ISP partners, aiming to bring high-speed internet to additional underserved communities. By participating in both regional and statewide events, we stay informed on emerging trends and contribute to shaping a more connected California.

Quarter 1, 2025

January - March

2015-2017

Advancing Digital Equity Through Statewide Collaboration

In March, CBA representatives attended the Digital Equity Coalition Reception in Sacramento, hosted by the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF). The event brought together broadband advocates, legislators, and coalition partners to celebrate progress in digital inclusion and discuss priorities for the coming year – including last-mile deployment, internet affordability, and continued support for Regional Broadband Consortia.

We were honored to participate in this important event and connect with policymakers who share our commitment to closing the digital divide across California.

Growing Our Network of ISP Partners

This quarter, we also focused on strengthening and expanding our partnerships with internet service providers to prepare for future deployment opportunities. Our goal is to support scalable, community-driven broadband solutions by bringing ISPs, local governments, and nonprofits to the same table.
