Board of Directors
Sanjay Khandelwal
President
Sanjay has decades of nonprofit and for-profit work experience, mostly in Silicon Valley. Over his career, Sanjay has worked or consulted at multiple companies, large and small, public and private, including Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, Spring Education, Twitter and Carbon3d. He has led global teams and worked in different functions including finance, sales, customer support, real estate, and corporate development. Sanjay currently is part of the Corporate Development team at RTI International, and works on mergers and acquisitions and strategic alliances. He lives in the hills above Silicon Valley with his wife, dogs, chickens and a plethora of wildlife. His hobbies include being involved in the community, serving on nonprofit boards, hanging with friends and family, and home wine making.
Ken Nye
Vice President and Secretary
Ken brings nearly two decades (25 years) of ISP business management experience. As the Chief Operating Officer of Surfnet, Ken’s technical leadership is critical to operation. His work spans customizing IEEE standard wireless hardware and software to designing and maintaining backend ASP websites. Ken’s capabilities extend to troubleshooting comprehensive computer and network problems, configuring and maintaining a variety of servers, and understanding a range of routing protocols. His technical proficiency has resulted in the development of Surfnet’s back-office software, which supports network monitoring elements, customer self-service portals, and billing systems. His leadership and project management skills are unmatched, and he brings the best out of everyone on the team with his can-do attitude and ability to explain the most complex things in an easy-to-understand way.
Todd Hauschildt
Treasurer
Todd is an information technology executive with over 30 years of experience in leading IT transformations and managing IT functions within large and mid-sized enterprises. Todd is a recognized leader in cyber security and physical security. Most recently he held the position of SVP & CIO of Veritas Technologies. Previous CIO positions have been at CRC Health Group (acquired by Acadia), Advantest, and Verigy. Todd has also held IT positions at National Semiconductor, Hewlett-Packard, and Agilent. Todd holds a BS in Computer Science and Finance from CSU Chico and an MBA from Golden Gate University. He lives in the SF Bay Area with his wife and maintains an active interest in wine making and gardening.

Kiran Bengard
Operations Manager
Kiran graduated from UC Berkeley in May of 2024, with a B.S. in Conservation and Resource Studies. She has experience working for two other Bay Area nonprofits, Acterra: Action for a Healthy Planet and Conscious Kitchen, where she gained valuable experience in policy research, community outreach, and advocacy. Kiran has also conducted research in various areas of public policy and resource management, contributing to impactful projects aimed at advancing equity and sustainable development. Her diverse background includes work in social equity, environmental policy, and community-driven initiatives. In her free time, she enjoys baking, crocheting, reading, hanging out with friends, and spending time outdoors.
